Nathan Ngieng appointed to Deputy Superintendent
The Abbotsford School District is pleased to announce that Nathan Ngieng has accepted the position of Deputy Superintendent, effective July 4, 2023. Nathan has been with the district since August 2017, where he previously served as Assistant Superintendent and Director of Instruction, Learning Support Services.
Commenting on the news, Superintendent Sean Nosek said, "I am delighted to announce this appointment to our Senior Leadership team. Nathan’s dedication to building equitable and inclusive schools, as well as his in-depth organizational knowledge, makes him the perfect candidate to take this position in service of our 20,000 students.”
Ngieng has been an educator in the B.C. public school system for over 20 years, serving in various roles at school and district levels. He has tirelessly advocated for inclusive support in education and understands the importance of creating joyful, inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage students to develop agency, identity and connection.
Ngieng extends his leadership expertise to several provincial organizations and committees, including the B.C. Council of Administrators of Inclusive Support in Education (BC CAISE), Provincial Practice and Policy Board for the Youth Development Instrument (YDI) and the Provincial Anti-Racism Collaborative. He is completing a Doctor of Education (EdD) from Western University and holds a Master of Education (MEd) from the University of Calgary.
